Call Arbor Barber Tree Service, certified arborists, for all your "Canopy Cleaning, thinning, raising, or reduction tree services!"

There are many reasons to prune a mature tree.  Proper Tree pruning promotes good branch structure, improves health through the removal of dead, diseased, stubbed, and dying branches, and reduces potential hazards.  Arbor Barber Tree Service certified arborists will assess your tree's age, condition, structure, and location and will prepare a pruning plan to meet your objectives.  The following are standard definitions of pruning that you might hear our arborists referring to:

Crown Clean: Selective Tree Pruning to remove one or more of the following parts: dead, diseased, and/or broken branches.  Many short lived, brittle tree species in the Pacific Northwest such as Cottonwoods, Bigleaf Maples, and Alders receive a crown clean to reduce falling hazards near residential yards or play areas, schools, or public areas.

Crown Thin: Selective Tree Pruning to reduce density of live branches. Thinning should be performed on tree's whose canopy is too dense and prevents sunlight from penetrating the canopy, or has a high wind resistance during potentially hazardous windstorms.

Crown Raise: Selective Tree Pruning to provide vertical clearance for practical issues such as sidewalk clearance, light entry, visibility, or to reduce crowding.

Crown Reduction: Selective Tree Pruning to decrease height and/or spread (consideration must be given to the ability of a species to tolerate reduction pruning). Sometimes tree crowns or branches must be reduced to improve form and strengthen structural stability, or to provide clearance from other vegetation or structures in the area. When performed properly, heading cuts are made on the parent branch or stem next to a smaller branch that is at least 1/3 the size of the parent branch.

At Arbor Barber Tree Service, our goal in all of our tree service operations is to perform the job safely, efficiently, and provide thorough clean up with minimal impact to the surrounding vegetation and area.
